The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

As a biologist, I am broadly interested in the taxonomy and phylogeny of plants. My empirical systematic research interests have been on the family Orchidaceae with a major focus on the tropical taxa, especially from Africa.

I am interested in species-level problems including species delimitation and classification, interspecific hybridization and geographical patterns of species diversification.

In recent years I mainly worked on taxonomy and phylogeny of the orchid subtribe Polystachyinae, a group including fascinating pantropical 230-species genus Polystachya. A comprehensive monograph of the subtribe was published in 2011.

I currently work on the long-term project concerning the orchid flora of Africa.

My second lifelong passion is teaching with the goal to inspire my students. The subject I am interested in the most is gamification in education. I gamify  learning at the University of Gdansk. The teaching (and learning!) is not boring any more:)
